St. Martin

It was discovered by Christopher Columbus during his second voyage, on November 11, 1493.

Its white sand and the limpid sea made the island of San Martin a dream destination, but the island is also famous for its political coexistence.

Indeed, France and the Netherlands coexist on 93 km² in the greatest harmony.

The treaty of the distribution filmed on March 13, 1648, never put into question.

By the way, never customs officers or policemen on the border materialized nothing more than a poster!

Nautisme San Martin is then divided into two parts from East to West - Basse Terre and Grand Terre joined by two narrow coastal ridges that surround the salt pond of Simpson Bay - and represent a hinge between the chains of the Small and Greater Antilles.

The French part is located to the north with 3/5 of the surface of the island; that is 52 km².

Since 19 March 1946, the French part is dependent on the Overseas Departments and the Dutch part is related to the group of the Netherlands Antilles.

La plage Verdadero fiscal paradise, the island also attracts tourists for its beaches, its lagoons and its climate with the Atlantic Ocean on one side (east) and the Caribbean Sea on the other (west).

The official currency is the euro, on each side of the border, but the dollar nevertheless remains the currency most commonly used. Some stores in the Dutch part accept nothing more than the dollar.

Strongly affected in September 1995 by hurricanes Luis and Marilyn, the island of the small Antilles rapidly erased the traces of the disaster, tourism was its main source of income.

But, the two cyclones of 1999, JOSE and LENNY one after another, were dramatic for the island and will remain for a long time in the memories ...

But again, the West Indian island bandaged its wounds and is ready to receive you for unforgettable vacations ...
